  • What's so cool about VRG?

    We’ve got our bouldering walls which we reset a portion of every Friday. We have a Moon Board, a 16x12 Kilter Board and a 12x10 Kilter Board. We’ve also got a Campus Board and a fitness area. After your workout, use our Hand and Foot washing station! Feel free to work or hangout in the lobby and use the Wifi.

  • I am not a member. Do I need to make an appointment to climb or are you open to the public?

    No appointment necessary. Drop in anytime. Our hours of operation are below:

    Monday-Friday 9am - 9pm

    Saturday and Sunday 9am - 7pm

  • Do you give tours or can I come look around on my own?

    Yes, we can show you around! You may come in anytime during business hours to take a peak!

  • Do you have free trial passes?

    We do not have free trial passes but we do offer Day Passes and Punch Passes. If you come in and get a Day Pass and absolutely LOVE us and want to sign up the same day, we will waive your initiation fee!

  • What should I bring with me?

    If it’s your first time, we’ve got you covered! No bare-feet, socks, or street shoes are allowed on the walls. We’ve got rental shoes and rental chalk. Bring a water bottle and a pair of socks - we will provide the good time!

  • Where do I park?

    We have 3 designated stalls in-front of our gym for guests. There is also plenty of street parking along Hamakua Drive or Hekili Street.

  • My kid want to come boulder, what do I do next?

    You will need to actively supervise your children. Children 13 and under who want to boulder must be closely supervised by an adult (be a helicopter parent).

    You can purchase a day pass and gear when you arrive.

    We do not provide staff on-demand to supervise kids - here is what you can do at the gym:

    You can boulder with your child.

    Your child can take a class so that your child can climb on the tall walls!

    You can schedule a private lesson with one of our staff.

  • Do you have an age minimum?

    We have a Kids Wall that is open to kids under 3 and under a certain height.

    Children older than 3 are welcome to join us for climbing on our main bouldering walls.

    There is a 1:1 non-climbing adult to child ratio for kids under 6 and a 1:3 ratio for kids 6-13.

    All kids 13 and under must be directly supervised. Direct supervision means keeping children within arm’s reach at all times.

    We do not provide staff on-demand to supervise kids.

  • Do you have kids classes?

    We have a few options for kids!

    We have our After School Climbing Club Tuesdays thru Fridays open to climbers ages 6-17 - no experience required!

    We also have our Training Team and Competition Team that meets three times a week.

  • Can I drop my kids off and go run some errands?

    DIRECT parental supervision is required. Unattended children 13 years and younger will not be allowed to climb or be in the gym area.

    Kids who are active members of our Training and Comp Teams may boulder without supervision with approval from their Coach.

  • Do you do private lessons?

    Yes! Please send us an email at info@volcanicrockgymhawaii.com to schedule a private lesson.

  • Do you do large groups or parties?

    Yes! If you are coming in with more than 10 people we just ask for a reservation which can be made by sending us an email to info@volcanicrockgymhawaii.com. We have a few options available for larger parties, so we would love to work with you to find the best one!

  • Do you sell climbing shoes?

    We will be selling So iLL shoes VERY soon!

    We do not sell shoes YET but we allow our members to sell their shoes. We have some pairs in the front lobby that you are welcome to take a look at and try on.

    We do have shoes for rent or encourage you to visit our friends at ClimbAloha.

  • How does the billing process work?

    Annual Prepaid & Short–Term memberships are paid in full up front, so there is no ongoing billing. All memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable.

    Monthly membership fees are auto-charged on the 1st of each calendar month. The charge hits your account within 1-5 business days of the 1st of the month. All account changes (i.e., freezing, cancelling, etc) must be submitted by the last day of the month, before auto-billing on the 1st. As of the 1st, billing has already processed, and changes cannot be made to the current month.

  • How do I cancel or freeze my membership?

    All monthly and annual prepaid members can freeze their membership. Freezes must last for a minimum of 1 month. There is an $8/month fee for freezing your membership.

    Remember, all changes MUST be made before the first of the month. If you send in your request on or after the first, it will be processed for the next month.
